Top 10 Greatest Inventions Changed the World - Rapid Info

Now, we will discuss the 10 Greatest Inventions that changed the world and helped us to live a better life. We will also see the greatest invention which will come in the future. So let's get started!

1) Fire:

The fire was not invented by humans but the first success of humans was utilizing fire properly and learning how to create a fire. Early man used fire for heat and for protection from animals in the beginning. Later, early people ate the meat which is burnt accidentally and he thought that it was tasty than eating raw meat. It was also easily digestible. This is the first step of the development of humans. Eating cooked food also killed many harmful bacteria and few scientists are telling that because of eating cooked food, carbohydrates increased and the number of neurons in our brain also increased. So, because of eating cooked food humans became more intelligent.

2) Wheel:

We don't know who invented the wheel exactly. But, there are little pieces of evidence saying that the wheel was in Mesopotamia about 5,500 years ago. In the beginning, they used wheel for making pots and later after 300 years they used wheel for tyres for vehicles. Before the invention of tyres humans used to travel from place to place by walking or through horses. But now we are using wheels for vehicles and also in many other industries. We can't even imagine our lives without wheels.

3) Paper:

There are shreds of evidence showing that paper was made in China in the year 105. Mos of the history would vanish without this paper. In the start, this paper was used for wrapping around costly things. Slowly paper was used for writing. The invention of paper was not spread in European countries soon. So Europeans used a material called Parchment ( made from the skin of animals ) for writing. And to write a Bible they have used the skin of 250 sheep. So, it is very difficult for European people to make a book and books are very costly those times. Paper reached Europeans 100s of years after China. After the invention of the printing press by Johannes Gutenberg, it was made easy to print books and the cost of books are also decreased and came available for the common man.

4) Compass:

I think you all know very well about the compass. This was invented in China in the year 206 as an object which predicts fortune. A lodestone which is in the shape of a spoon was kept on a bronze plane and the spoon was always rotated to the south direction due to the connection of the earth magnetic field. Before the invention of the compass people would try to find direction based on birds flying in the sky, sea tides and stars in the sky. Many people missed in the seas before inventing the compass and people started using the compass from the year 1050 to know the direction. After using compasses travelling from the sea route increased and traders also increased.

5) Optical Lenses:

Optical lenses helped human to explore more about stars and planets. Usage of telescopes and microscopes are possible because of these optical lenses. We are not able to know about few microorganisms which cause illness and there would be no medicine for those diseases and viruses caused by microorganisms.

6) Steam Engine:

The invention of the steam engine is a big revolution in the history of the world. People used horses before the invention of the steam engine to travel from one place to other. Cars and locomotives were worked based on this steam engine. Production and human effort were decreased after the invention of the steam engine. Industries and transportation were increased because of the steam engine.

7) Electricity:

Electricity was also not invented by anyone like fire. But, people discovered electricity. Many people did research on electricity like Benjamin Franklin, Edison and Nikola Tesla, etc. But the first person who did research on electricity was Benjamin Franklin. He wanted to prove that lightning was also electricity and he flew a kite and attached a metal key to its three and flew it when lightings and heavy wings are coming. Because of the static electricity present in clouds, the lose tiny bits of thread raised up like goosebumps and the electricity from the key touched the body of Franklin. He proved that lightning is also a form of electricity. Now we are completely dependent on electricity and it has become a soul for the world.

8) Penicillin:

Before most people would die because of even a small cut in hand or something because the infection may enter the body and may kill the person. At that time a scientist named Alexander Fleming invented penicillin accidentally. Penicillin is the foundation for the medical field now. In the year 1928, Alexander Fleming left his lab without cleaning and went out for few days. After his return, he found that fungus was formed on a plate. He observed it under a microscope and found that bacteria was dead in the place where fungus formed. So he thought that fungus may have the nature of killing bacteria. With this, he invented penicillin and it is a revolution at that time. Before the invention, lakhs of people died of diarrhoea and Pneumonia. During the second world war, this penicillin saved the lives of many people. So, they called penicillin as "Miracle Drug". Based on this penicillin most of the medicines for diseases related to bacteria were made.

9) Transistor:

Transistors are the main reason that we are using advanced computer and smartphones these days. Before the invention of the transistors, people used vacuum tubes which are very large in size. In the worlds first computer named Eniac, they used 18,000 vacuum tubes. This whole computer weighs 30 tonnes and is the size of a big room. This computer also consumed a lot of power and these vacuum tubes never last longer so, we need to change them regularly. A Transistor is a revolution in the electric field and changed the entire world. This is used for the amplification of electric signals. The smartphones which we use now nearly consists of 2,00,00,00,000 transistors. All electronic devices we use consists of transistors. So, transistors are said to be one of the most important inventions in the 20th century.

10) Internet:

All most everyone uses the internet. Almost 63.2 % of the world's population uses the internet. We can know any information we want within seconds and can communicate with anyone who is anywhere in the world. This was not invented by a single person. It developed slowly by many people. In the beginning, the US Defence department developed 'Advanced Research projects Agency Network' in 1969. It is called 'Arpanet'. This is a closed network that only they can use. Later, this was used by universities. In 1991 Tim Berners - Lee created World Wide Web or WWW. With this internet came into normal people and now it became a part of us.

These are the inventions that changed human life. But, the invention which will change the future completely was surely AI or Artificial Intelligence. It is a computer program which can think of its own and learn of its own. Scientists are in the process of developing Artificial Intelligence. Many humanoid robots with artificial intelligence had also made. But many scientists are bothered about the future because according to the AI will take all humans under its control and make them slaves.
