Now, you are going to learn about our solar system and details about all planets in our solar system. We will also see why there is no life on other planets? What are the weather conditions on that planets? Can we live on any other planets of our solar system?
Planets in Solar System:
Neary, before 450 crores of years 99% of the gas from nebula came together and formed the sun. The remaining 1% formed all the planets, natural satellites in this solar system.

Now, let's start our journey to different planets in our solar system.
1) Mercury:
Mercury is the first planet in our solar system as it is very near to the sun. Mercury is the smallest planet in our solar system. Its diameter is 4,878 km. Mercury size is almost the size of our moon. Mercury is just 5,80,00,000km away from the sun. 70% of its core is of iron. Mercury rotates around its axis very slowly (Rotation) as 1 day in mercury is equal to 59 days. But it takes just 88 days for mercury to rotate around the sun as it's the closest planet to the sun. As Mercury is the closest planet to the sun, the temperature of mercury is nearly 800° F. Even though scientists fund ice on mercury at few places. There are no natural satellites for Mercury.
2) Venus:
Venus is the second planet in our solar system. Venus is 10,80,00,000km away from the sun. The diameter of the venus is 12,100km which is almost the size of our earth. So, it is called Earths twin sister. But the weather on Venus is completely opposite to earth. Even sunlight cant enter the surface of Venus as it is completely filled with carbon dioxide. There always exploitation of volcanoes here and irrespective of the day or night every time temperature on venus will be nearly 900° F. This is the hottest planet in our solar system. On venus, all clouds are of sulfuric acid. As we know that sulphuric acid is one of the powerful acids in acids but, on venus, this acid will fall as rain. There will 1500 pounds of atmospheric pressure on us and for that, we will become like a crumbled egg. This planet is completely filled with poisonous gases and there is no chance of life on Venus. Venus rotates on its axis in opposite direction compared to other planets. So, on venus sunrise can be seen in the west. Venus rotates very slowly on its axis and it takes 243 days for the venus to rotate in its axis but it takes only 225 days for venus to rotate around the sun. So on venus 1 day is greater than a year. There are also no natural satellites for venus.
3) Earth:
Earth is the third planet in our solar system and this is our home planet. Earth is 150,000,000 km away from the sun. The diameter of the earth is 12,700km. There are seasons formed on earth Earth is filled with many gases like oxygen, nitrogen, carbon dioxide, etc. The average temperature on Earth is nearly 61° F. 1 day on earth is equal to 24 hours and it takes 365 days for the earth to rotate around the sun. 70% of the earth surface is water. There is 1 natural satellite to earth as we know it as the moon.
4) Mars:
Mars is the fourth planet in our solar system. This is the only other planet that there is a chance of life and even we can also live on mars with few types of equipment. Mars is 229,000,000 km away from the sun. The diameter of mars is 6,792 km. There will be also seasons on mars. 1 day on mars is equal to 24 hours and 40 minutes. It takes 687 days for mars to rotate completely around the sun. Mars is also called a Red Planet as its surface looks rusty and completely red. The sky appears to be blue on earth but on mars, the sky appears to be pinkish-red. Air and water are a must for life. So, scientists are trying to find the presence of water on Mars. Scientists launched Curiosity Rover to mars so that it will continuously do research on mars. Scientists found traces of water flowed on mars and said that it is 100 times bigger than the Amazon river. There is also a volcano on Mars named "Olympus Mons" that is 25 km in height and it is 3 times the height of Mount Everest. Mars has 2 natural satellites and there is no ozone layer on mars like earth. So the UV rays from the sun are very dangerous but scientists are telling us that we can continue life on mars with few types of equipment so many be it will become the second house of us.
5) Jupiter:
Jupiter is the fifth planet in our solar system. Jupiter is called as "King of the Planets". Jupiter is 779,000,000km away from the sun. This is the biggest planet in our solar system. The diameter of Jupiter is 142,984 km. Only this Jupiter weighs more than all other planets in the solar system. We can fill 1300 Earth-like planets in this Jupiter. Even though we cannot stand on Jupiter as there is no land on Jupiter. It is a very big gas ball. Jupiter is completely filled with Hydrogen, Helium, Methane, Ammonia, etc gases. The weather of Jupiter is very dangerous with thunder and lightning always. If we go even deeper we can see liquid metallic hydrogen. And there is a chance of the presence of core inside that. The magnetic field of Jupiter is very powerful and it will attract many asteroids towards it and saved our earth many times. So Jupiter is called '" Solar Vaccum Cleaner ". You can see a spot on Jupiter in the below image it is a cyclone on Jupiter. This is called the "Great Red Spot" This cyclone formed 400 years ago. Jupiter has 79 natural satellites. Europa is one of them and scientists are telling that there may be a chance of life on Europa as its surface is filled with ice and maybe there is water below that ice and may have aquatic life. 1 day of Jupiter is equal to 10 hours. Jupiter takes 4,300 days to rotate around the sun.
6) Saturn:
Saturn is the sixth planet in the solar system. This is a very beautiful planet in the solar system because of its rings. It is the second biggest planet after Jupiter but it is also the lightest planet as if we throw that Saturn in water, it floats. Saturn is 1.4 billion km away from the sun. The diameter of Saturn is 120,536 km. Saturn is completely filled with Hydrogen, Helium, Methane, Ammonia, etc gases. The main reason it is special is because of its beautiful rings around it. These rings are formed as crores of particles of dust, ice and stones are rotating around Saturn. After millions of years, all these particles may come together and form a natural satellite. There are 62 natural satellites of Saturn. 1 day in Saturn is equal to 10 hours 50 minutes. It takes 10,760 days for Saturn to rotate a sing revolution around the sun.
7) Uranus:
Uranus is the seventh planet in our solar system. It is 2,90,00,00,000km away from the sun. The diameter of Uranus is 51,118 km. It takes 30,687 days for Uranus to rotate completely around the sun. This planet is completely filled with ice. Its speciality is it rotates 98° bend and rotates vertically. Scientists are telling that maybe before many crores of years a big asteroid hit this planet and from then its is rotating vertically. There are also rings for Uranus but in a very small size. The most interesting thing was because of the atmosphere of Uranus we can see diamond rain in Uranus. The temperature on Uranus will be -335° F. Uranus has 27 natural satellites.
8) Neptune:
This is the last and eighth planet in our solar system. Neptune is 4,50,00,00,000 km away from sun. The diameter of Neptune is 49,500km. Sunlight reaches our earth in 8 minutes and 20 seconds and it takes 250 minutes for sunlight to reach Neptune. 1 day in Neptune is nearly equal to 16 hours. Neptune takes 60,000days to rotate around the sun once. On this planet, winds will flow at a speed of 2,000km/hr. As the atmosphere of Neptune contains methane, it looks like a deep blue colour. Neptune has 14 natural satellites. Diamonds will also fall as rain in Neptune too as in Uranus.
So, friends, these are the planets in our solar system but there is also a planet which is once called a planet but removed from the planets list in 2006. Yes, it is Pluto. Let also see some points about Pluto.
9) Pluto (Dwarf Planet):
Pluto is the ninth planet in our solar system once. Pluto is 3.67 billion miles away from the sun. The diameter of Pluto is 2300km. The surface of Pluto is nitrogen methane and carbon monoxide. 1 day in pluto is equal to nearly 153 hours. Pluto takes 249 earth years to complete a revolution around the sun. But in 2006 IAU removed Pluto from the planets list as it doesn't obey the properties of planets and named it a "Dwarf planet". Many protests also took place to not remove Pluto from the planets list.
To know why to pluto is removed from planets list: Click Here
Not only pluto there are many other dwarf planets in our solar system. The solar system is not only these 8 planets there is the asteroid belt in between Mars and Jupiter and there is Kuiper Belt after Neptune. In these crores of asteroids and comets are present. From these 8 planets, We can see Mercury, Venus, Mars, Jupiter and Saturn without using a telescope. We can see them only in few cases and it depends on your location. We can identify them by seeing their position they also look like stars but slowly moves. So, I think you came to know many new things about our solar system.
