Reading Techniques:
Don't study for the marks, Learn the subject. There are two main types of reading. They are ''Passive Reading'' and ''Active Reading''. We usually follow any one of these methods while we are readings without knowing to us. It depends on the time we have to study and interest in the subject which we are reading, this makes us follow any one of these methods. According to educational psychologists, usually, students follow passive reading while they are listening to lectures in the classroom and when they are reading a movie book and another book they follow active reading. Now let's see more information about passive and active readings.
Passive Reading:
when we are following Passive Reading we read the book but with no concentration and less than 10% will be noted in our brain. In that time we will think about all other things but we will not concentrate on what we are studying. There are two ways to overcome passive reading.
Techniques to overcome Passive Reading:
▶ While we are reading we have to point our index finger at what we are reading and we have to read loudly so that only we can hear what we are reading. Don't read too loudly. This will help us to overcome other thoughts while we are reading 90% as we are seeing with our eyes and reading loudly and pointing our index finger at what we are reading. So, try to follow this while reading.
▶While we are reading we have to control our thoughts and make our brain concentrate fully on our subject. We have to think that our exam is tomorrow and believe that you are reading your favourite book.
Active Reading:
This is a good way of studying. Some people will follow this based on their interest in the subject and some will follow this before 2 to 3 days of their exam. While we are studying by following active reading, our concentration levels are very high. Follow these techniques to follow active reading.
Techniques to Habituate Active Reading:
▶Any lesson will not be noted in our brain for the first time. It may be a newspaper or your favourite book. So, first Read the Main points 2 or 3 times loudly.
▶We can hear music in low volume while we are studying. That means we should not hear movie songs or others. If we search for study music on youtube we will get a lot of videos. You can choose anyone from that. Listening to music while studying can improve your concentration levels.
▶We have to link the main words in or chapter with our words to make it easy to remember. for example, We can remember the word Eureka using Surekha.
SQ3R Technique:
When we are studying any subject, it may be anything to remember it temporarily or permanently this is an amazing technique This is a very popular technique.
SQ3R means S, Q and 3 R's
S = Survey.
Q = Question.
R = Read.
R = Recite.
R = Review.
1. Survey:
It means we have to read the lesson from right from the title to the last line. It helps us to know what is the matter in it and what they want to tell us. We have to Understand the headings clearly and now you should observe the images if given in the middle and understand them. We have to read the points which are in different fonts. these are the main points or definitions of any important words.
2. Question:
This is the most important thing. After reading the lesson some questions will be raised in our brain. We have to write those questions in a paper, those questions may not be meaning full. Leave some space after writing each question. Now try to answer those questions on your own and write the answer in that blank space and now the next day ask your teacher and find answers for your questions. this is a good technique.
3. Read:
Now after the first two steps, you got an idea about the chapter now read the lesson again in detail and try to find answers for your question and underline or highlight some important points while you are reading this will help you to identify easily while you are reading again.
4. Recite:
This is a good way. we have to read the lesson loudly so that our brain will note it.
5. Review:
Usually, we will forget 80% of what we are reading and we will remember only 20%. So, after reading the topic we have to write it on a paper and in the evening we have to read the synopsis and we have to read it for two weeks once a week and once a month. This will take 10 minutes to read. Now before your exam if you follow the last three steps you can score the highest marks in the exam and you will never forget it again.
